BLUEMED’s participation in the European Week of Regions and Cities 2018

In the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities (EURegionsWeek) 2018, BLUEMED project had an active participation, by the Lead Partner, in the contest “Interreg Talks: 6 projects, 1 Slam”, which was organised by Interact and the European Commission (DG REGIO). The specific contest was part of the capitalisation work implemented by Interact Programme aiming at demonstrating how INTERREG works and how its cooperation model can be enlarged/transferred.

The “Interreg Talks: 6 projects, 1 Slam” contest promoted innovative communication approaches related to capitalisation of INTERREG results, addressed to stakeholders and audiences other than usual INTERREG practitioners. BLUEMED was one of the six finalist projects, and its team, without using brochures or endless presentation, performed and showcased the projects results of cooperation in an attractive and original way by using art, music, videos and good-old storytelling, winning the 3rd place award, as well as the "Social media award" for the more effective mobilization in the social media, catching the highest number of likes among all six finalists. Throughout the EURegionsWeek, and in the framework of the above contest, Ms. Aggeliki Veneti, project coordinator, gave interviews to various European media describing the fascinating features of the BLUEMED project.

In addition to the participation in the Project Slam, BLUEMED project had an active presentation by the Lead Partner, among seven different transnational INTERREG programs, in the framework of the "MadeWithInterreg - seven transnational highlights session". It was highlighted how BLUEMED project promotes and protects the Mediterranean underwater natural and cultural heritage by valorising and preserving the Mediterranean coastal region and by developing and strengthening a sustainable and responsible style of coastal and maritime tourism, through the planning, testing and coordinating UMs, DPs and KACs.

Additionally, and throughout the EURegionsWeek, in the joint stand #MadeWithInterreg, being placed at the entrance of the hall and covered in yellow colour, BLUEMED represented by Lead Partner, along with other European transnational cooperation programmes, displayed three copies of ancient molds / findings at the exhibition in order to demonstrate its activities and results.

Finally, during the "Coop Cult and Succeed - EYCH2018" session, which the project team attended, the Interreg cultural heritage e-book, published by INTERACT and DGREGIO, was presented and BLUEMED was one of the projects participated in as a good example of a cultural heritage cooperation project in the framework of “2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage” (EYCH).
